The World’s Most Beautiful Sports Arena

The World’s Most Beautiful Sports Arena

Home of Los Rayados, the Estadio BBVA Bancomer sits in the incredible landscape of Monterrey, Mexico.

This stunning piece of architecture features a sweeping asymmetrical shape that perfectly frames the famous Cerro de la Silla Mountain to create truly jaw-dropping views.

The design is a nod to the city’s history, incorporating metallic aluminium armature in tribute to steel mills and the asymmetrical shape in the style of brewing stills, both of which were cornerstones of the city’s industry as it began to develop and thrive.

At a cost of almost $200 million, the new stadium replaced the Estadio Tecnologico as the home of Monterrey CF, ending their 63 year residency at the stadium. The project was completed in 2015 and we were happy to read that it was recently voted #1 in a list of the world’s most beautiful sports arenas in an article by the BBC (http://bbc.in/2EjooX4).

At C&O we are proud to have played our part in the creation of the world’s most beautiful sports arena! That’s right, the stunning aluminium cladding that surrounds the stadium and creates it’s iconic shaping was powder coated by us with a bespoke colour (Pantone 289C to be precise) to match the Monterrey team colours.
