At C&O, we coat aluminium for some of the UK’s most demanding construction projects.
What most fabricators and architects want to know upfront is whether we can match their specification. Choose the wrong applicator and you risk remedial work, missed deliveries and costs nobody budgeted for.
Pre-treatment built for architectural components
Pre-treatment is the most critical stage in the process. Get it wrong and the coating will fail, regardless of the quality of powder coating used.
Our seven-stage immersion pre-treatment facility uses a chrome-free OxsilanTM process and can accommodate components up to 6,000mm x 1,500mm x 600mm. That capacity covers the kind of long aluminium extrusions and fabricated sections that architectural projects typically require.
The full immersion ensures that pre-treatment reaches every recess, joint, and internal face. On a facade exposed to weather for 25 or 30 years, thorough pre-treatment is the difference between a coating that holds and one that fails.
Two production lines
Our 24,000 sq ft facility runs two horizontal conveyorised production lines with automated powder application.
Once pre-treated, components are suspended on the line and move through the coating stage, electrostatically charged powder particles coat the aluminium evenly around the profile. The line then carries them through a tunnel oven to cure. After curing, each component is inspected for defects, film thickness, colour and gloss level before being packed to the customer’s specification.
Two lines give C&O the flexibility to handle concurrent projects with different colours or finishes, and to accelerate delivery on larger jobs.
Quality to meet the specification
C&O operate a fully equipped on-site laboratory where we conduct regular sampling from both the pre-treatment and powder coating Lines. In addition, as both a Qualicoat approved and ISO 9001 accredited powder coater our TQM processes ensure your project leaves our facilities to the highest possible standard.
Every order receives a unique C&O reference number, with full traceability from receipt through to despatch. We pack according to each customer’s specification, with labelling that ties directly to purchase orders and delivery notes.
C&O are accredited by all of the major powder coat manufacturers including Interpon, Synthia Pulvin, Tiger and IGP Powder Coatings so we are able to offer a full range of RAL colours and different finishes.
Storage and Despatch
Anyone who has worked on a large construction project knows that programmes change, delivery windows move and site access is rarely straightforward. That’s why we’ve invested in a new 5,000 sq ft secure indoor storage facility which helps protect finished pieces and so fabricators and contractors have more control over when their project leaves us and is delivered to site.
Our Projects
Over the past 40 years we have worked on projects across the UK, from hospitals and universities to commercial developments and high-end residential buildings. Some of our more recent projects include the Unilever Eden Campus in Kingston upon Thames, Nine Elms London, Bristol Myers Squibb R&D Wirral.
Each project brings its own requirements. The Unilever Eden Campus for example used three different colours across the Honey Building and its adjacent car park, including a bespoke stone effect finish. These stone effect and natural appearance powders are regularly specified by architects who want the look of natural materials as well as the durability and performance of powder coating.
