ARCHITECT WANTED FOR CHELMSFORD CITY COUNCIL LEISURE CENTRE

CHELMSFORD CITY COUNCIL IS ON THE HUNT FOR AN ARCHITECT TO REDEVELOP ITS 1960S RIVERSIDE ICE AND LEISURE CENTRE

The £25 million project will create a new pool, training area, fitness suite and multi-storey car park on the prominent Victoria Road site.

The new facility will be constructed on a car park and once completed the existing leisure centre – constructed in the 1960s – will be demolished.

A nearby ice rink and sports hall – which has been home to the Chelmsford Chieftains ice hockey team since 1987 – will be retained.

Up to six teams will be shortlisted for the estimated £1.6 million design contract with bids evaluated 50 per cent on price and 50 per cent on quality.

The winning team will include a quantity surveyor, structural and civil engineer, mechanical and electrical services engineer, filtration services consultant, CDM-co-ordinator and BREEAM assessor.

Services covering transport consultancy, flood risk consultancy, landscape architecture, and building and land surveying will also be required.

The deadline for entry is 16:00 on the 17th  August.
