ARCHITECT WANTED FOR STIRLING'S CURLING CENTRE14 July 2015
STIRLING COUNCIL IS ON THE HUNT FOR AN ARCHITECT FOR SCOTLAND’S NEW £2.25 MILLION NATIONAL CURLING CENTRE
Located inside Stirling Sports Village, the scheme will involve both new build and refurbishment.
The project comes after the Great Britain’s male and female curling teams won silver and bronze medals respectively at the Sochi Winter Olympics.
Backed by sportscotland and the local authority, the new facility will be open to both professionals and members of the public and may also feature a new home for the National Curling Museum.
Plans to create a new national centre for cricket at nearby New Williamfield were put on hold in May because of a lack of funding.
S&P Architects completed a new £27 million complex, known as The Peak, as the centrepiece of the sports village in 2008.
The winner of the latest £110,000 contract will develop the scheme from RIBA stage 1 to 7.
The deadline for requests to participate is 2pm on 23 July.
